Energy Performance and Thermal Comfort Delivery Capabilities of Solid-Desiccant Rotor-Based Air-Conditioning for Warm to Hot and Humid Climates—A Critical Review

چکیده
There has been considerable research worldwide on desiccant-based air-conditioning during the past 30 years. The rationale for push this new focus twofold: (a) need to provide an alternative conventional refrigerative systems which rely heavily fossil fuels as their energy sources, and (b) better thermal comfort in air-conditioned spaces warm hot humid climates. A desiccant system consists of several components cool dehumidify air before it is supplied a conditioned space. Earlier work identified potential advantages technology, include following: (1) working fluids that do not impact ozone layer, (2) reduced electricity consumption, (3) improved indoor quality, (4) simpler construction less maintenance, (5) integral provision heating cooling cold/temperate On other hand, authors paper following drawbacks: inevitable while being dehumidified, regeneration low COP paradox, limited options heat reliable cooling, electrical coefficient performance (COP). This presents critical review solid-desiccant rotor-based systems, discusses detail drawbacks. found drawbacks outweigh advantages. main reason dehumidified counterintuitive addition moisture evaporative process. During years development efforts, no significant innovations have discovered resolve these crucial issues. Unless future directed find breakthrough, technology will commercial application.

Building Design for Hot and Humid Climates – Implications on Thermal Comfort and Energy Efficiency
The paper discusses the concept of an adaptive thermal comfort design methodology and its impact on the selection, design and performance of climate control systems for large public spaces with transient occupancy in hot and humid climates. It outlines the design methodology which is based on providing localised comfort conditions to zones within a building based on its occupancy patterns, acti...

Day and night comfort votes were recorded from Caucasian residents at Weipa, a mission station in the hot humid tropics of North Queensland, Australia. The limit of day comfort for more than 50% of the men was 81 5°F. (27-5°C.) "normal" corrected effective temperature; the night limit was 78'00F. (25 5°C.). Day comfort limits correlated well with air conditions at which sweat was apparent: nigh...
متن کاملPersonalized conditioning and its impact on thermal comfort and energy performance - A review
The building industry nowadays is facing two major challenges – the increased concern for energy reduction and the growing need for comfort improvements. These challenges have led many researchers to develop a personalized conditioning system. Personalized conditioning aims to create a microclimate zone around a single workplace. In this way the energy is deployed only where it is actually need...

15 صفحه اولOutdoor thermal comfort and urban design in warm-humid Guayaquil, Ecuador
Deteriorated urban microclimate and poor outdoor thermal comfort is an increasing problem in cities in the tropics due to the combined effect of urban and global warming. Microclimate measurements (wind speed, air temperature and humidity, and globe temperature) were carried out in different parts of the warm-humid city Guayaquil, Ecuador. Simultaneously about 400 persons were asked for their s...
